Becky’s Day

Maddie can't resist a smooch

Going to a grade eight grad today for a girl I adore! Have known her since she was a cheeky little babe! She comes from very good stock, wonderful parents, just enough wacky to teach their kids that life is fun. Big brother is very cool and just enough protective to not be a total pain!!She aspires to be a vet..a choice I heartily support. Very intuitive and deeply caring... the animals get that right away. Becky you will excel at anything you do because you approach life with your all. I am so proud of you, always have been, and am very grateful to have been in your life. Thought perhaps a beach towel instead of kleenex so we can stretch it out and share while we're all ballin' n' snifflin'!!!! (NO I WON"T) Enjoy every minute of today my beautiful girl and shine!!! See you soon,
me XO

Bedtime

This is really no different than the way any mother feels when the day is done and the babies are quiet and sleeping.  They’ve burped, pooped, torn around the living room at warp speed and now finally there’s quiet!!! I’ve sold some books, signed some books, learned about blogging and now it’s time for all old dogs to go to sleep.  NIGHTY NIGHT                              003039          Snuggle with Leeroy 005

Under My Chair

A Poem By: Kim Parker

There's a little girl sitting under my chair
It feels as if she has always been there
She's been sent by an angel,as a friend for me
When another's time here just couldn't be
When I first saw her face,I saw yours too
The connection was clear,I think we both knew
You're both very different, and yet somehow the same
I knew in an instant, the reason you came
Our time my dear Gracie, just wasn't to last
And I feared our connection to be in the past
But then, quite miraculously, Nala appeared
And the fog I was working through suddenly cleared
I often can't say why I do what I do
I just seem to keep going without much of a clue
But one thread through my life has always remained
It's purpose for me just can't be contained
The sick ones I draw with incredible force
It's been there for so long it's a matter of course
I'm driven to learn the lessons of life
Some easy, but mostly they're wrought with much strife
And then with my Gracie the message was clear
Give up the control and banish the fear
For years I have struggled with wanting to lead
She taught me with faith, there's really no need
Be quiet and listen, let God be the guide
Let Him do the driving and you take the ride
The hassles diminish, you then claim the peace
And the days full of gratitude greatly increase
Now Nala is here to continue to show
That growth indeed happens, the minute I let go
My passion with dogs has been no mistake
The help that I give them,is all for my sake
Life's journey can be a real challenge for some......
But
When the student is ready, the teacher will come!

Soakin' up the sun

All About Me

Grab yourself “a cup of”, I’m going to tell you a wee “tail”

My name is Kim and this amazing little bully is Fergus.  Little did I know when I adopted him, my way of life would drastically change!

For those who don’t know the bulldog breed, along with a personality that will grab you in your soul, they can physically grab you in your pocketbook as well.  They have a number of inherent problems, not the least of which can be sensitivities to foods and vaccinations, flea prevention, antibiotics …, the list goes on.

When Fergus came to me, he had skin eruptions all over him, hair loss, the ceaseless itchy scratchies, and a terribly hyper personality. Oh yeah, did I mention he is deaf too.  Sounds like a great dog to take on when you already have eight others! His owners had tried desperately, with little success, to heal his conditions.

Enter me, the self proclaimed fixer of anything dog!  I knew I could help him, I just wasn’t quite sure how.  The present conventional remedy he was on was not working and he was actually in a healing crisis.  I was frantic and telling myself what a dope I was for taking this on.
Months prior, I had had a natural health care practitioner drop into my grooming shop and leave her card.  “Bingo” the light went on, I had my epiphany, and I instinctively knew that this would be the answer.  Now, where did I stuff that card?!!  Thankfully after ripping my shop apart, I thought to call our local health store and “Jackpot” I got the name and number of Fergus’s healing angel.

Enter Sandra King . I called her, the adrenalin rushing, cause this little guy was really sick, and in half an hour she appeared.  She listened to all I could tell her and then did her own physical exam.
“I did rescue work some years ago, Newfies mainly, and had occasion to contact Sandra’s teacher about a dog I was trying to help.  This lady did then, what Sandra was doing now, but I wasn’t open to it at all, so I just dismissed it.  Funny, when you need to learn something, it keeps coming up in your life until you finally get it!
Back to Fergus…
Sandra put him on a regimen of five herbs and changed his diet to one that was wheat free.  She warned me that this little guy needed to flush all the chemicals out of his body, rebuild and support his immune system while doing so, and that this was not an overnight fix.  We started on his holistic cure, with Sandra checking in often and being available to talk every day.  In three months I had a new dog.

This process was not without a few peaks and valleys of detoxing and healing,  but this holistic approach was giving Fergus’s body the help it needed to heal itself.  What a learning curve!!!  If Fergus was going to be this sensitive to anything chemical, then what I put on him, re. shampoos etc. was as critical as what I put in him.

You know how they say that necessity is the mother of invention , well in this case it was.  I decided that not only did I want to learn more, but needed to make real pure products for my grooming shop.  I knew what I wanted and what these products should do, and also knew that the creating part was not my strong suit.
Without thinking, I picked up the phone to call a gal whose all natural skin care line I use.  Enter Lisa Burke . I said “Hey Lisa do ya wanna go into business with me?” She answered yes without any hesitation and the rest is Parker’s Natural Petcare.

So what’s the reason I had to tell you all this?  I believe that there are times in our lives, if we are open, that we are able to do amazing things.  We can learn, create, and grow in ways we would never think possible.  Lisa and I have done that with our collaboration on the Parker’s Natural Petcare venture.

Our intention is to return to basics.  We know that nature not only heals beautifully, but gently without a litany of side effects.  We’ve chosen to give you our best so that you can pass that on to your pets.
Keep those Tails Waggin!!
Kim
